Hello

I have just rescued a 5ft sailing boat and although very new to this I have managed to sort the rigging etc. but I need to know what kgm servo would be required to operate the rudder the boat is named conquest and 5ft long the rudder is an extension of the keel and is 10cm long and 12cm deep.

Also advice on the transmiter and poss sail adjusting would be good.

Hi Jim, I have used standard servo’s in marblehead yachts for years without any problem, although for this season I am trying the metal geared standard servo from giantcod. this gives better torque &, obviously, has stronger gears, but i like the price most of all.

Hello James

I agree with Glenn, a normal servo would be ok

But for a more impressive appearance, I would use a sail arm winch
They are quite inexpensive these days
