          Hi Martyn,

i too am building a mersey class, so we can both learn together on this one.
firstly to answer some of your questions.
1/ metcalf mouldings do a “prt kit” set of fittings for a 1/12th mersey, al in white metal, you just have to ignore certain items as ” not applicable” as it is also made for another class of boat, so you wont use everything they send.

2/ Ive been strongly advised NOt to use graupner 900’s as recommende dby the hull supplier as they are both overweight and overpowered too, and recommended to some 755 motors supplied by action electronics.
3/ yes you can motorise the radar, by installing a “micro motor” inside the radar motor shell, but use a plastic radar, not a white metal one as supplied in the fittings kit, it would be too heavy for the motor to rotate.

4/ action electronice also make a decent sound system, ive just had mine delivered, they can even supply the sound system “pre loaded” with replica “cat diesel sound” as the mersey runs twin cat 3208’s.

5/ take a calming pill and take the build steady. my hull kit as supplied from models by design is simply a hull and a cabin, nothing else, so am habving to design and make everything else.
I do have the “build” threaded up on here but its also on the mayhen forum too with more detail.

I have to admit, you are in the best place for photographic detail to act as “aide memoir” whilst building yours and would greatly appreciate any pics you can supply and I’ll try and assist you with your build “as we go” so to speak.

Pm me for me email addy, so it is easier to forward pics.

          best of luck.

          Steve
