After a stroke i find it very hard to type in, and struggle for the words to say, and it makes me mad that after all that i am ignored.
It seems very clichey here, ive made several posts, all have been ignored.
All i have done ive tried to be accepted but it seems theres an elite here, and outsiders are not welcome.
Well there are other sites i can go to where what i have to say wont be ignored.
      Bye

A post will , I have seen , get a large number of views/replies when it is in a popular vein, For instance, mention “steam” and within a few hours your post will have been viewed about 10,000 times. Its odd, and one wonders where all these bods come from and why they dont post a bit more often…

Judging from my limited experience of forums, this one is relatively clique free, and has a very  helpful set of contributors, and a webmaster with a rod of iron to moderate over us all.

I dont think that the number of replies should worry you too much, i have posted, and within 10 views someone has answer my query and thats that. A lot of posts attract very few views or replies.

ON the other hand….perhaps no one on this forum has the information that you require and so your post does not attract replies, especially if, as you intimate, your post may not be quite so clear.

I would suggest that there are at least a dozen or so regular contributors on this site, myself included who would only be too happy to assist you with the wording or otherwise of any posts you would like to add.

Thank you Ashley, you remind of a cousin of mine, the resemblence is uncanny, he is a diver, and dives all over the world.
Once again thank you, and thank you bob for the instructions on how to post a link.

                    great models there tony.
it must give immense pride and satisfaction to produce good models like that, and also the enjoyment of sailing them once complete…that’s the part i like the best.seeing all the hard work put to what they do best.
                    what’s next on the slipway.

                      Hi Tony,
There is a mine of information lurking on this Forum, as Ashley says some posts get lots of input with a catchy Title,,,,  Cost Nothing Boats,,,,Free LifeBoat  etc.
Me I Scratch Build mainly from Styrene but from any old junk that looks right.

                        Hi Tony
Like many others, I tend to only answer posts when I feel my input is useful and correct.
But having looked at your album photos, they are good models , your own rating as intermediate in your profile is a bit harsh,  ‘Scrapheap’ building is an art, and you have that art.  I don’t post much and I do have the art of saying things in a manner that can be read as arrogant, but if I stick to my area of knowledge, electrics, then Iget by.

Stick with it you are doing a grand job

I have been away for a week and only just seen this topic. I fully endorse what the others have said, we are not cliquey, it’s just that some people post more frequently than others. The more people who post, the bigger our community will be so all posts on our shared hobby are always welcomed. Some will attract more interest than others depending on the subject but I don’t think that many go ignored and all are certainly read.

Well i was ignored Colin, and i would say again that the forum is cliquey,.
I encountered people like what is on  this forum at my local pond, they seem to look down there noses at you, and look at you like they have trod in something nasty, especially when they realise i’ve had a stroke, and my speaking is not up to scratch.
I just laugh at people like that, and think “if you had got the knowledge i’ve got you would be smirking on the other side of your face”.
With there kit built boats, or ready made boats they think they are the Bees knees.
I thought i would be welcomed here with like minded people, who share a fascinating hobby but i was wrong.
Another member told you were a pompous person, and judging by response i got i am enclined to agree with him, in fact several people have told me, so you have got a lot of enemies out there Colin.
You should learn a bit of humility, and not think that the world revolves around you, no doubt i will get kicked off this forum but bare this in mind, i have spoken the truth as see i it, and i was ignored, and if you barr from this site it just goes to show what a small minded person you are Tony Wilkinson

Well Tony, I am sorry to see your comments which I believe to be ill founded. Maybe I should mention that I myself am profoundly deaf and this makes life quite difficult at times. As you say, if people find that difficult to deal with then that is their problem and not mine! I don’t think that anyone who knows me would describe me as pompous but being very hard of hearing can make conversations difficult sometimes and perhaps some people don’t make due allowance for that and get the wrong impression.

I am sorry that you have suffered a stroke but the truth is that many of us model boaters are getting on a bit in years and are suffering from various health conditions which are equally acute and unlikely to improve. I also have a version of glaucoma myself so the possible prospect of being eventually both deaf and blind is hardly an enticing one. But you have to deal with life as it is and manage as best you can.

I have no intention of barring you from the site as things stand at the moment but you may care to re examine your own attitude and perhaps make some allowances before making posts of this nature. Is it possibly your own approach to things which is at the root of the problem?

                                Regards,

                                     Absolutely right, Ashley.

When I first joined this forum, I was made to feel very welcome, but then, I didn’t have a chip on my shoulder. Given the tone of Tony’s replies, I don’t believe that anything you or I say will have any effect.

BTW, “Pompous” is definitely not a word I would use to describe Colin Bishop, quite the opposite, in fact.

A difficult situation handled (not surprisingly) well Colin.

Tony I really do feel that your perceived view of us on here is poorly coloured by your unfortunate experiences and resulting poor health. My own has for a few months now been of concern to me and I’m totally aware just how self centred it can make one. (it did me for a few weeks) yet when put in the light of Collins own problems is actually pretty insignificant. so if you feel you were ignored I for one am very sorry to hear that and along with Bob, Ashley and many others will keep my eye’s wider open in future. How you can determine that you were ignored is actually beyond me may be as Bob said perhaps no one thought they had a worth while contribution to make.

                                      Regards Phil.
