      Hi! My Dad would like a model sailing ship to sail in our local park with the grand kids. I haven’t been able to find them locally and wondered if anyone could let me know of anywhere online that I could source one.

       I would prefer to buy one ready made, rather than it being a kit to make up. The boat must have sails(not motor powered) and be around 12-16 inches long. Good 2nd hand would be acceptable if a new one is out of my price range. I haven’t got much to spend so any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks!

      Regards Paul

         Hi Paul

        You should pop along to your local Model Boat Club and ask the members there of any outlets of boats for sale and they might even have someone in the club with one, you don’t mention the area you live in so can’t help you anymore than this .

        You could look on the website of Howes models ;

         http://www.howesmodels.co.uk/RadioControl/index.php

        They do ready to run boats, but make sure of the frequency they run on if he is going to join a club ! Ask at the club you go to first about frequencies

          Hi, thanks for the response. I am based in the Grimsby area (Lincolnshire) so anything within a 50 mile radius would be possible, though ideally I could just order online and have it delivered before Xmas fingers crossed.

          The boat must be non motorised, as a few years back my Dad had made this same request for one but obviously hasn’t been pleased with the powered remote control boat I purchased for him then. For me, a motorised boat would seem much more appealling than a sail boat, especially if the grand kids are going to retain interest in it, but for some reason my Dad wants a sail boat.

            I bet that there are lots of second hand boats lying about gathering dust , try all the local clubs,there is alist somewhere on here.

            Len.oh and can you fill in your profile as it helps members to see where and a bit about you,

            Happy xmas.
