This model looks very well made……………….but it`s too squeakie clean!

Needs plenty of rust and weathering………………IMO……………Why not try it on one of your "out of favour" models?

The model looks great, just as the full size version would when it was first delivered to the owners and I think that is how all models should look…in pristine condition.

But this is just my opinion

Well you know how much we are at the lake Bob, it will soon get a layer of dirt on it after 3 or 4 times a week sailing and that’s what its all about is’nt it, SAILING model boats as well as modelling them.

Thats why I’m puzzled under my picture,because out of a club membership of 120+ there are only about 10% that sail their boats,still it would’nt be right for us all to be the same would it, they pay their membership and make their choice. Can you imagine 120+ boats on the water at the same time,Nightmares!!

Some more “bling” for you Bob,you know Velda likes a nice shiny boat.Ducky

They are’nt hand rails Bob, they are Deck side barriers.Much larger than hand rails.

There are also brackets on they to hang pipes.

I like my boats crispy clean as well. The point about sailing such well made items is, er, well made.. If I had spent the sort of time that has been spent on some of these boats i would not be sailing them quite so much, or would be more choosy as to the state of the water/weather conditions. As it is, I never add that much detail and thus can be out in all weathers and deliberately build-in waterproofness for a bit of "extreme sailing" . Ashley.

Hello Boys

I`ve given the subject of whether to weather or not to weather some thought…….about 10 seconds to be precise……………..I`ve come to the conclusion that if a model is a model of the real thing and the real thing is weathered, rusty and in a right old mess……………..that`s the way they should appear!

Wait till you see Jeanie Deans in her wartime livery!………………….Then we will resume this discussion?

The navy always kept their ships in 1st class condition so we won’t expect to see any rust or dust on your new model….

Only recently , in this magazine, an old Navy Salt was describing the condition of his destroyer after a few months at sea…………….he mentioned the rust looking paint pigments streaming down the superstructure etc……………….anyway, I`m looking out now for exciting examples of genuine weathering!

Got plenty of time at the moment
