Andy. It has to be a pair of 555 motors from Model motors direct. My HMS Manchester is the same length as yours and has a pair of 40mm 5 bladers wot the 555`s spin very nicely on 12v,. the revs are moderate, and I would have thought a GP400 is a bit "buzzy" in a warship this size and a 40mm prop  might be a bit big for that size motor? Very low current consumption as well on th 555`s . Ashley

Andy, While I am on the subject, I recently performed some "plastic magic" on a "USS New Jersey" kids toy battleship from theArgos catalogue shop, costing a mere £14.99, (and its a corker of a model, once painted up a bit ; the detail is quite stunning for a kids plaything and its a respectable 26"in length) and used a lightweight 2mm shaft and 30mm with a Como 280 motor on 4.8v…the performance was…er, ok.. so i fitted a Graupner speed 280 instead on 6v and the thing really flies now….wish the bow was a bit more pointy, it might get up on the plane!.   So..motors,, you never can tell. Ashley to be honest i know as much about what motor to what prop as i do about rocket science, light blue touch paper an run like hell !!!!,I just enjoy building the boat and ask my local shop for advice and they are normally quite good even if they are busy.I’ve just been trying out some batteries i’ve got for my perksa mtb as i’m thinking of taking it out on sunday to blow the cob webs away and this afternoon/evening i’ve been making new torpedo launchers as the old ones ,like my dukw, got damaged in my moving flats.I’ve been in touch with deans several times about getting replacment bits for the upper part on the dukw but they never seem to get back to me.I think my best moment was not long after i had finished my perkasa i was asked by my oldest girls teacher to bring it i in and show the rest of the childen as my daughter would not shut up about this boat i had made and these children were amasing the questions they asked ,like what does that do and how does that work was really great and they were really interested it’s a pity that my dukw was not done then as the kids would have had a feild day.
