I want to build a tug boat , does any body know were I can get free plans, that show all of the construction plans. MERV

nothing’s free in this life, merv.

even the free plans in the model mags cost the price of the magazine?!

depends what type of tug you wish to build, ancient, modern, steam or motor.you don’t give much of a clue for other members with plans that could be copied to give any form of help or assistance!

How about a Springer Tug , the plans, or at least the hull measurements can be downloaded from a number of sites for FREE. Model Boat Mayhem have covered the building of these with some detail and show many variations from the same hull, The Model Tugs Forum also have some on their site and not to mention The Model Boats mag which has been covering them over the last few issues.

I have just uploaded Springer tug photos to my album,I have also got a TID tug on there that I built,also a tug designed by Ricky Webb along with 3 barges, The boats do not cost much to build, Its the stuff to make them go that bumps the price up!.

Hi Merv,

Pop along to Clydebank MBC at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robert.mcmanus/index2.htm

they have a number of FREE plans including 2 for tugs. If the size is not to your liking just scale them up on a photo copier. when printed out on A4 sheets you will need to trim them and then stick them together (unless your rich and have a A0 plotter !

This might seem a daft question but is there much interest in model boating over there in the land of the long white cloud and do you have any decent model shops?

Yes Paul we do have a lot of Clubs but most like sail boats & fast racing types & there are some like

me who Like the proper types( Tugs Coastal PTs & the like). We have a Hobby shop here in Hamilton

But very Expencive there are better ones in Auckland, Thats 60 odd Kmts away up north & there are

more in the towns south of here. Enjoy the sun as we will today. Regard Merv
