People are asking questions about something to which there is currently no answer.

Only media owners with a crystal ball will know how to respond to These queries.

My magazine arrived a couple of days ago and I don't know if I should read it or frame it.

Ashley is correct about pointless speculation especially as we all have something far bigger to worry about.

Posties seem to be working normally in my area, HR9, but not got my mag yet, also not on Pocketmags either, which is unusual!

My magasine came 2 days ago. Mail deliveries normal in Nottingham / Derbyshire border, plenty of deliveries from Amazon.

Cornwall Model Boats say they are operating normally as much as possible so shouldn't be any problem with modelling supplies.

Yes, but bear in mind that a lot of model making stuff originates from China and supplies have been disrupted so once UK stocks have gone then you might have to wait.

Under normal circumstances I would be in the forefront demanding answers but these are strange and unusual times, the current national crisis has overtaken all of us and turned our world upside down.

With all of this in mind I can fully believe that events have fast overtaken MTM and that with minimal staff they could well be struggling to make sense of the fast changing situation never mind find a way forward.

I know that this commentary is far removed from my normal vociferous attitude but we all find ourselves in a situation where 'the Devil is driving' and no one can predict where we will end up,

I don't believe that I am suggesting this but perhaps we should give MTM some extra time in which to 'gather their thoughts', after all none of us are going anywhere.

Unfortunately there are a lot of things that are 'supposed to be happening' at the moment but actually aren't .And frequently they involve quite a lot of money as people chasing flight refunds etc. are finding out.

As of earlier this week there was one very busy lady trying to sort out the subscription situation and dependent upon what policies are being determined by her boss who in turn is trying to keep up with a situation which is changing day by day. MTM is only a small company with very few permanent employees and like most small operations is not set up to deal with the situation it now finds itself in.

If the intention is to restart the magazine in the future then I expect subscriptions will be carried over to the next published issue. If it doesn't recommence then refunds would be due, assuming the money is there and that is the reality.

We don't know to what extent the company is being affected by staff absences or other factors which are delaying a response.

Obviously nobody wants to lose money on subscriptions paid and no magazine in return but in situation where some of us on here are being bereaved or worried about close relatives with life changing medical treatment being put on hold or being of an age or with medical issues which make us very high risk if we catch the bug simply by going shopping, then worrying about subscriptions that may or may not be honoured is not our highest priority just at the moment.

I have already lost several hundred pounds through unrecoverable holiday cancellation costs and am set to lose several hundred more. It will just have to be written off in the hope that next year we are actually able to go on holiday.

Quick bit of research and it's a shop in/by Loch Lomond that is a reseller. Trying it on a bit it seems. All the prices seem high, covering postage plus a bit of extra profit.

Due to the unfolding situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the closure of most WH Smith stores, newsagents and other stores, we're writing to let you know that we are going to pause production of the magazine from the current edition.

For many years, our mission has been to provide the best quality editorial to our valued readers – and rest assured, we are committed to try and get through this very difficult time for the country, and world at large.

You do not need do anything and we still be fulfilling entitlements in the future. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and communicate with you further as and when we’re able to restore business as usual.

For this period, we are extending to you free access for the foreseeable future to the digital archive containing back issues of your magazine. These issues are available to read whilst connected to the internet. We will continue this until we can be confident that our supply chain has returned to normal.

                                  Hi Colin

Yet again I find myself in a quandary, my old self would be jumping up and down about my subscription but times have changed and now I am looking at the bigger picture.

MTM still have bills to pay and will need our continued financial support if we are ever to see the magazine getting back into publication and so, speaking for myself, I am content with continuing with my subscription in the hope that things will get better.

A noble thought, Dr T. My own angle is that it's likely to be a lot of hassle to try and get thirty quid back so I'll just not bother.

There was an interesting and thought-provoking piece in the Grauniad over this weekend which forecast that printed media such as newspapers might not survive this crisis. If costs continue to increase, circulation to decrease and advertising revenue to decline then inevitably some will go. With many retail outlets currently closed indefinitely these factors can only work against the newspapers, and I imagine that this applies even more to low-volume niche/hobby publications.

                                    Don't hold your breath…

Well, I have switched to an online subscription to the Times/Sunday Times as our local newsagent has closed down for the duration. Mrs B and I can read it simultaneously on our devices. It's not as good as having the real thing but it does the job and costs only half as much as buying it up the road. Downside is that I now don't get the exercise!

(and my phone is 4G so it can't give me the virus. cheeky)

                                        Hi All,

I think newspapers are very vulnerable as they are aimed at a mass market of people who bought them mostly from habit, the instant transmission of news on your phone/tablets/TV renders them obsolete. Where as the specialist publication market does maintain with a small minority of subscribers in their fields. Interesting that the majority of MB sales still from the shelves of WH Smiths.

In the end we will see in the next 12 months I guess, but my only claim is I have never bought a newspaper in 64 years, but have bought 1,000's of magazines about things that interest me 😀 !!

                                        Regards Ray

It took me a couple of days to sort out but what you need to have is the 10 digit number (mine started 400… ) that you should have been given in the acknowledgement e-mail that confirms your subscription – mine came from [email protected] on the same day I ordered an on-line subscription. Once you have the number, log in to this site and there is a box for you enter the number on your account settings page.. Hope that helps.
