Day 33 Today I made the top rails used the same timber as i did for the bump rail 10mm half round. I used the template from the deck to place one row of screws for each side on my work area to the exact shape of the rail then as i steamed the wood soft placed more screws the other side to hold in place and in to shape and allowed to dry.. I have glued them in place on the side rails already will show the results tomorrow once dry..

Day 35 The task was to make a start on the cabin, all side parts cut to shape and windows rough cut out, also done a dry fit to see what it looks like masking tape to hold temporary.. the front section is taller than needs to be as I wanted to check hight once on the deck, looking at it needs to be shorter..

Day 37 Drilled vent holes in the floor of the cabin to allow air in and out from the hull to help with cooling, the front side windows and the rear window will be quarter open to allow air flow, also made the roof for the cabin and hatch for the nets and part finished the planking around the cabin and hatch, plus I did slim down the mast at the top..

Day 40 After a bad start to the day spent 2 hrs messing with all the running gear to make sure all is working before paint lots of head scratching only to find out that the new transmiter and receiver DX5 I brought was faulty grrrr so back to the shop with that for a replacement..

But I did manage to get some masking done and paint on the cabin

Day 41 Bath test today and it floats with no leaks cool put all the running gear in and worked out the ballast required and marked the hulls waterline she sits well in the water..

Wow some weight was added to get the hull to sit right for waterline..

Here is the calculations.. Boat with running gear and cabin in place 2.425 kilo.

ballast required front 0.990 kilo. ballast rear 0.910 kilo. battery mid section 1.340 kilo. Total weight 5.665 kilo…that's some weight

Day 41 continued Using the pencil marks placed in bath test I sat the boat on a level work top on my stand made sure she was sat correct and level I made a tool to mark the hulls water line from a scrap of wood and pencil and masking tape and keeping the wood tool flat on the worktop marked a line all round the hull, then using tamiya's masking tape I have my waterline masked ready for hull painting..

Also found some time to continue painting the cabin and made some hatch covers.. you can see the colour scheme I'm going for..

Day 45 Today rummaged through the fittings box, over the next couple of days as the weather is too damp for painting I shall be making a few fittings..

It all started with making the cabin mast and cabin roof vent, the brass fitting at the bottom of the mast is a 8mm olive used for plumbing..

Day 45 continued Now for some brass work first time I have worked with the stuff time to make the exhaust..

                                              The parts cut ready

                                              Inner tube soldered and cleaned

Then the outer soldered and cleaned

And the day ended with the result rather proud of my self for this bit of work

Day 46 Ok I had to solve the problem of the hull access deck lifting in the middle here what I came up with..

22mm plumbing fitting and a brass latch 2 nuts a bolt and a block of wood

Bolted through deck twist and turn to latch over hull access deck..forgot to mention fan as been added above the motor as well

Hey presto two barrels done the job nicely.
