I have just built….something….. with 2mm gold connectors on the motor, and its pulling 8 amps no problem.
I think that the current rating is likely to be as high as the wire that would be connected to them, without being silly about it, (massive cables being used etc)

thanks for your reply Ashley if i had thought before i posted the question, i removed a small version of the tamyia plug and the pins on it are a shade smaller than 2mm ,so fitting new gold ones at 2mm it should be safe and there is allways a fuse.on another note where do you get your ideas for the mag.the toyboata and the car/yacht are great looking forward to the next invention from the Ashley stable.regards sammyk

Sammy. Good question that, The Toyboata and Herald were the lads ideas, but I like to make a bit of a different model to the norm, and so…well… the ideas just pop into me `ead, officer.

The current secret project (completed and tested very satisfactory) is a real cracker and really really different.

The articles in the mag appear because of the unusual subject rather that the particularly high standard of workmanship, . I haven’t got the time or will to spend hours on detail and railings/whatever, so the choice of model reflects my desire for a “swift build”,

The most time I have spent on a model is probably the Titanic, due to the required number of small parts to detail the deck and hull (shell plating) even on a stand off model , but it is only a stand off model at the end of the day.

Of the rest, they have been built to satisfy various criteria…The HMS MIdge was my first build after a very long model boating absence and was chosen as it is a bit of an un-modelled subject, and a very straightforward project; the aircraft as they were particularly novel, and also to keep the lad interested in boating, the battle-cruiser “Glorious” to test the plank and hardboard construction, and to be FAST; the Nelson as I liked the profile of these battleships and fancied a camouflaged vessel, the sub as I have always wanted a sub….. HMS Devastation as I was initially aiming at the “clockwork tin-toy” look, landing craft for the lad, Rubber band boats as this method of propulsion intrigued me…..you get my drift??

Soon I will run out of things suitable for the mag and be forced to starve.sob sob
