Yes…I did build a hull (about 40 inches) and fitted it with three shafts and nine props, but ummed and arred over motors and this stalled the project, and it has been in the shed roof for a long time now!.
The issue was motors powerful enough to drive three 30mm props, without being too heavy and amp hungry, combined with a need for reasonably light weight regarding batteries and adequate run time etc.
This was before brushless had really taken off in the boat world, and of course the way forward is now clear, as 3x 35mm brushless of say 1000Kv will easily turn the props and be very light. Using Nimh batteries of only 7.2 or perhaps 9.6 should give it a reasonable performance. It would not need to be very fast, just quick-ish with the nose clear of the water.
The Fleetscale hull I am sure would be tricky, as it will be very thin and thus tender on the water. Building a Turbinia with only one shaft/prop is a no-no, as after all…what would be the point??
I have stuff on the go now, but I suppose should really get down to it, you never know.
