It rather depends on what you want to make them from. If you can get away with plastic or wood then one of these would do the job using stripwood, plywood strip or plastic strip 4mm wide.

I have one and find it really useful for all sorts of cutting jobs. You would probably need to drill the hole by eye or by using a simple jig but that shouldn't be too difficult.

If they need to be in metal then it won't be so easy although I expect someone will have a suggestion.

Thanks Colin , Yes plastic was what i had in mind ,i will look at getting on of cutters , to make them exact they should have a 0.5mm hole in each corner to take a rivet so if i make a jig for the centre hole i may as well put 4 more holes in the jig to them at the same time.

            Regards Dave

              Dave,

As an alternative to drilling holes and fitting real rivets, you could simulate them with a spot of thick superglue in each corner of your base plates. Alternatively you could impress the rivet heads from the back of the base plate using a tool made up of a small block with 4 pins, similar in principle to the process I used on Spider J's hull plating shown here.

Another option would be to use photo etched rivet heads stuck in each corner. I have not done this to simulate rivets but I have used it quite a lot to simulate bolt heads and tails

Thanks Gareth , I have had a go with the superglue , I got best results using a needle to apply the blob , it looks good and will be a lot quicker than drilling and gluing in rivits .

                Thanks Again Dave
