If the Bobs board is perfectly matched to the motor, it gives good control and is very easily serviced. Consisting of a wiper and contacts, it will need regular servicing.
The Hitec gives god control over motors that are not too demanding but at a very restricted voltage (read the label, do not go outside the stated limits). Motor will rumble.
Electronize, good, big for the rating, but repairable should anything happen. If its that old, the motor will rumble a bit, and might give a burst of full reverse on waking up.
Viper. Does what it says, but is a replaceable module rather than a repairable device in the unlikely event of it dying. (My broken ones were broken by me rather than anything else). Might give a high pitched whine from the motor.
All of the electronic ones match very well to a range of motors. All resistance types give very poor control if the wrong motor is used.
