Malcolm If we wish to be pedantic, original question was

"Any way any one out there know how i can contact this guy ???."

The type of steam generator used depends largly on the size of model. I have a friend with a 3Guage pacific class loco with a good way to provide smoke (steam actually) through the funnel its called a boiler. Very realistic

The guy is most likely to be Mark Windless, who runs Marks Model Boat Bits from his home in Christchurch, Newport, Gwent.

You may contact him via the MMB website for which the link appears in Malcolm's posting above. Have a seat available and maybe a supply of coffee if you telephone him. His enthusiasm knows no bounds!

Other water-based steam/smoke generators are available. Model loco units tend to be the oil-burning type.

Now that you have the info you require Andy, I hope you don't mind me piggybacking your thread with another question about smoke generators.

I have a Graupner smoke unit and a Hunter Systems one. Does anyone know if the distillate used is the same in all these units. One is much cheaper than the other! I know the obvious answer is to ring Hunter Systems but I thought I'd ask here before bothering a busy man. Another suggestion might be to try it- but I don't want to gum things up if they aren't compatible.

                        Anyone know please?

                        Ian
