Further to my email on lite ply delamination from which I did learn something i.e. Where to buy from. I thought I would show some photos of my build. The original plan was from a Model Boats extra article sometime in early 1970's when I started model boating. I recently returned two years ago and finished the balsa model that this boat is based on. I still have a lot of work to do and I have repaired quite a bit of lite ply as I did not feel like restarting the build. I have received my hull finishing materials from deluxe materials and I am awaiting the propshaft and other items from model boat bits.

My take on delaminating edges when cutting is…as long as the bits fit, you can slap the glue and filler on afterwards and it will still be strong enough. Put some supporting bits of strip balsa behind joints if worried.

          Boat looks good so far.

All my landing craft were built from 4mm ply of varying quality, butt jointed with PVA glue, and finished entirely with household grey primer. No fails yet, no splits or cracks, no leaks, completely waterproof.

Ashley I have not used the glass fibre cloth before as all my previous early boats have been ply or bread and butter construction and then just primed and painted. We will see how I go on I am intending to use glass cloth and ezekote.

If you have that silk like glass cloth is will be easy. It drapes really well. Eze-Kote, cloth, Eze-Kote. Dry…light sand….more ezekote.

Ashley yes I have the lightweight glass cloth and am following Dave Milbourn's article in model boats special November 2018.
