sea urchin @ bw 011022.jpgHi All,

This morning great time at the Chantry Club's Bluewater lake, plenty of breeze for our yachts, but being down a quarry your never to sure which direction the next gust will come from, Completion of the Sea Urchin saga, she went well and will plane easily with the brushed 600 & 6 cell battery, which was never my intention but may need a little ballast at the front to keep the bows down, seemed to get some positive comments from my crewsea urchin 2 011022.jpg, may have a go at the Aerokits PT boat next

      Regards Ray

              Hi Ray

Maybe some aluminium trim tabs at the stern that you could bend to adjust. They will only affect the trim when the boat is moving. Permanent ballast up front might may it quite bow-down at rest and slow speed.

              Like the subject very much.

Absolutely superb Ray. I really like the varnished wood look, never seen that done before with this type of model and it looks so good. I hadn't realised how substantial it was until I saw the figure in it. He looks the part perfectly. The bottom picture looks just right to me with the bow wave breaking at just the right point along the hull and the right amount of hull out of the water.

                Lovely job.

it still excites me as a build…….

I remember a shop on the promenade at fleetwood as a kid that sold all of the star yacht's and some of the small Aerokits boats including my favourite, the Sea Urchin, and one of these days as a little project to build on a board in front of the telly one cold dark winter I AM going to build one……..

I need to build one, lol.

Looks good on the water Ray. Definitely not a planing boat though!

I should have gone down the natural look with my Faireys, I would have had them on the water by now!

Like you Neil, I'm thinking of building something simpler and quicker than my usual builds, I've already done the drawings for one possibility or three!

                      Hi Folks,

Thanks for your kind words, but Les deserves the credit for a classic design, from the dreams of the Keilkraft catalogue, and pocket money of the 1960's

Having just sold 4 boats to make some space, this one will be a keeper.

                      Regards Ray

PS. Yes Harry I have your PT boat pdf thanks, I'm getting it plotted tomorrow.

                          thanks Harry

But I fancy the 16" kit from Slec……..its what I always remember a small little boat, for a little kid as I was then…….it will bring back some nice memories, and at 40 quid for the kit I recon that inflation never really caught up with it at that price…….a bargain.

Many thanks for the offer though. Apreciate your offer.

                          cheers., neil.

                            Hi Neil

I have only built one kit and 3/4 of it I remade (Wavemaster), also 2 frames missing.

Still turn out a great little boat.

16" is too small for our canal, 24" is about our smallest boats.

Thank goodness for that. I normally only hear good things about SLEC kits & didn't see any reason to suppose that their Wavemaster would be any different.
