I started this back in January 2017 for a group build on another forum.

We were given until December to complete our builds, unfortunately I didn't make it and is still on going.

The problem is apart from life getting in the way, I also suffer from getting bored when I only work on one build at a time.

I never attempt to replicate any particular vessel, I prefer to use what I like to call builders licence.

The kit itself is the Platinum version with photo etch and wooden decking included.

I have purchased several after market items such as GLS PE kits, stanchions, weapons kits, etc.

This is the build so far, starting from opening the box.

A little flash here and there and some fit issues, but nothing that can't be corrected.

      Smoke Kit.

      GLS Hedgehog.

      GLS Funnel Set.

      GLS 20mm Oerlikon.

      GLS 4 inch Breach Loader.

      GLS 2 Pounder.

Just immerse yourself in the build and crack on with it. A little time spent produces a great, good sailing model, well worth the effort. It's probably the most popular warship model ever, and with good reason. I still love mine, 20 years after I built it.

I forgot to put the txt in on the above post and now it won't let me edit and add.

Work done there is moulded decking removed and sanded down, bracing in the hull to make it more secure and be able to fit internal weatherproof decking.

Holes for the prop shaft and rudder assembly.

              More to follow tomorrow.

Does the internal weatherproof decking have somewhere to drain to other than over the coaming and down the insides? I arranged troughs on mine to drain through holes in the hidden bulkhead on to the after deck. It worked reasonably well in conjunction with the false deck under the gun area. I wouldn't want to trap any water above the waterline, especially in a flat area where it could slosh about.

Hopefully there won't be any water ingress, as there will be a rubber membrane between the decks and the hull sides.

I use the rubber from windscreen wiper blades as here on my schnellboot.

After removing the moulded decking, I scribed in deck plates where it would not be covered with the wooden overlay.

Next was to open up areas of the deck for access hatches, the extreme rear one is beneath the depth charge railings

I use very strong magnets for securing hatches, as I don't like screws/catches showing.

Some of the GLS photo etch to be mounted around the deck etc.

4 pdr main weapon and bandstand, 2pdr Quick fire weapon and mounting, 20mm Oerlikon, Hedgehog depth charge projector.

                          That's pretty impressive Ojays.

How long is the boat? There is an amazing amount of detail to squeeze in.

I am also intrigued by the servo arrangement. It looks almost like some kind of mechanical mixing. Can you explain how it works?

Great job and you must be very pleased.

Thank you for your positive comment.

Unfortunately that photo is of my Italeri 1/25 S-100 Schnellboot inadvertently posted in this thread.

It is for the Lurssen Efekt on the outer rudders. It turns the outer rudders outward by 30 degrees allowing for better speed and economy. Whether this is true with the model is debateable.

I tried to remove the post from the thread, but I couldn't edit it out.

The full blog for the S-100 is on this group if your interested.

Finally made it to the lake.

Unfortunately left the bottle of smoke at home.

Looking good – be careful of that camo scheme, mine has the "as instructions" Wester Approaches paint job and has a tendency to hide on dappled water in flat light.
