been given a set of plans of a seaplane tender which her indoors bought as a gift for me .

What are these like to build ? Looked complicated at 1st glance but after studying it the hull does not look too complicated once assembled the keel and sections along and the stringers . Many build one ? It's a twin motor version too .

The ability to build models obviously depends upon an individuals experience not only of building but also of reading and following plans, if you have never built from plans then I would suggest that you start on something simpler such as the Twinkler that you have been talking about.

The seaplane tender is a fairly straightforward plan to follow and a very good introduction to larger models like the RAF Rescue / Fire boat and Sea Commander but if you don't have much experience it will end up like a dogs dinner.

My advice is to continue with the Twinkler which has plans and a detailed set of building instructions courtesy of Dave's article

…..and if Dave can build it then anyone can wink…..

Building the Twinkler will give you lots of experience from which you could then move onto the seaplane tender.

          Hope this helps

Cheers Paul , I have been studying it and do understand it now compared to when opened it just need to sit look and think . That was the plan to build the twinkler 1st and go onto the seaplane tender . Does look a very nice model . Bet got a bit of grunt with twin motors ? Looks sturdy too with plywood hull .

              Hi Matt

It is a nice model and has a very robust hull as it can withstand being sailed by an aggressive 6 year old.

Matt, if you keep changing your mind you will never get anything built! smiley As Paul says, stick with the Twinkler, it is straightforward and shouldn't take you long to make. It will also give you a very good introduction to the Seaplane Tender which would be a logical next step with slightly more complex construction and the twin motor setup. The Seaplane Tender will turn out to be a much better model if you cut your teeth on Twinkler first.

                  The choice is endless!!

I'm sticking with the twinkler, might get some time later to sit down and figure out what wood need to order , decided to stick by plans and use balsa all over and go for tissue and z-poxy is that's a wise choice ?
