      Hi All

Thought I would put up some piccys of my new workshop space.

Open the door and what's inside

It has taken about 25 weeks to go from an unused garage space to a kitchen extension, utility room and my new workshop. Loads more pics of the build if people are really interested, but at the end I get a really nice clean (for now) space. Still not quite finished as there is no workbench, just my toolbox and an old IKEA wardrobe. I am thinking about using some kitchen units and a counter top to make up the workbench space.

I unfortunately failed one of my five exams, so a retake in November and then I can really get started building Stuff.

First on the list will be to finish the hovercraft off, then I might build one of Paul's plans. Not sure yet. Still have the Gup to think about too.

      Cheers Andy

          Nice work room, Andy

I would change the up and over door to side hinges………Looks too drafty for this time of year!

One large door and one normal sized door?

The workshop is great and very well prepared with its plastered walls, laminate flooring and easy access to the kitchen…..some of us can only dream of such luxury.

I don't agree with my esteemed friend, the right hon member for Etherow, as I think the up and over door is ideal and when closed is an excellent deterrent to thieves and other miscreants.

With the door closed you will be as snug as bug in a whatsits with hot drinks and toast on demand…………heaven.

Now where can I build a garage

              Hi Both

Thanks for the comments. Bob is on the right track. It is a little drafty, but more to the point, I keep banging me noggin. They had to raise the floor level up to that of the rest of the extension. Side opening doors will be fitted, but not for a while. Just have to wear a hard hat. I was not expecting the walls or floor to be finished, just thought I would have to put up with a dusty room. Nice surprise though.

Hot drinks and Toast, hmm I was thinking beer fridge in the corner!!!

              Cheers

You could fit a brush-strip to the underside of the door. That should cut down the drafts quite a lot. I know Wickes do them and I'm sure I've also seen one in B&Q.
I used Wickes kitchen units and worktops in my playpen and have been very happy with the result.

                  Come on Dave

You had your butler fit carpets because your feet were cold and had a second wine cellar installed so that you didn't have to walk to far.

And what's all this about B&Q…..you've never been in a DIY store in your life…..that's what your footmen are for!wink

I just put on my fluffy slippers and my fleece and act like a true man. None of heating or anything for me.

The fluffy slippers do look quite fetching, I have to say.

Looking forward to putting in the units and work top. Working with a board on top of my B&D Workmate. Slips all over the place.

                      Hi Andy…

Great looking work shop for your builds, look forward to seeing the layout for your models.

Have you set a plan for bench saw and spray paint area…?

                      Best regards,

                      Ian

                        Hi Ian

Not really thought about the layout much. SHMBO keeps reminding me that it is still a garage and I must store the bikes, wheelbarrow etc, etc, etc. But in the end I think I will invest in a cheapish table saw that can store away and set-up when needed. Should have thought about spraying and got the builders to fit a vent in the ceiling, but will figure something out. We measured and there is about 10 feet on the right hand wall, with the IKEA wardrobe (which stays for the moment) to use for a workbench with think drawer units underneath.

                        Andy
