Looks like metalflake is a thing of the past, at least in cans. Settled for a Ford bright red, which when sprayed on is a bit orangy? Looks nice though and the paint has gone on faultlessly. I have cut apart the battery box (in situ) and extended the bottom of it so the battery can lay on its side, and the cabin now sits on the flange where its supposed to, but the fit still wasnt great, so I have edged the bottom of the cabin with a strip on 15mm wide plasticard, and it fits nicely now. An unseen advantage of this is it has stiffened the top up a touch (its really annoying the cabin isnt fibreglass). The drivers heads, also a vacform moulding which i cut out and glued together with Plastic Magic cement, fell apart when trimmed…the joints become really thin. In hindsight I should have used loads of araldite which would pool behind the joints, but never mind. I had to re-glue them twice.
Although it sounds like I am having a bit of bother, these things are niggles really, and someone fore-warned about these foibles would have the thing built in two weeks. I hope to thrash it about on the pond this coming sunday, 10th May.
I may do some surfing regarding the metalflake paint, or possibly pearlescent laquer??

Paint…perhaps no surfing, as you know what will happen, the new paint will be incompatible with the old and I will have weeks of rubbing down and repainting to put up with.
