By the way there was a new trader called Clyde Model Boats , it was his first show , he had a very good range brass parts , good quality and fair prices , very similar stuff to what Modeling Timbers sell but as we all know Modeling Timbers are no longer doing shows.

I always thought it was 'dyed in the wool', but knowing Paul's tendency to spell certain words incorrectly on purpose I post this simply to advise others who also thought it looked odd. **LINK**

Iain Lewis of Component Shop tells the story of their first show, where they'd priced everything at 5p less than the next whole pound or 50p and quickly ran out of change. For the following year they just round all the prices up 5p to make things a lot easier and quicker. One gnarled old geezer picked up a £5.00 battery, looked at the price tag and said "I see you've put your prices up then".
The landlord in our local didn't reduce the price of beer on one occasion when the duty was reduced by 1p. He got so fed up of people making sarcastic remarks about it that he filled a bowl full of 1p coins, put it on the bar and put a sign on it inviting folk to take their 1p change if they felt that strongly about it. He says he didn't see one single person brave enough to do it!
Haydock Park might be a very good show but it's a 200 mile round trip for me and on a Bank Holiday that just spells 'daft'. I'll wait for Warwick in November (sorry, Jean).

The P110 actually does the job of two x P100, two x P104 and a P101. Not bad for eighty quid, is it? Details are here **LINK**

I know Dave , Please dont remind me , What makes it worse is that when i bought the P1OO Iain told me the P100 was being replaced with a more up to date model with more features in the near future so maybe hold fire . But when most people say in the near future it turns out to be years so i bought the p100.

            On the Soapbox here

Can't understand why anybody would hold a Model Boat Show on a Bank Holiday Weekend, where the roads are generally chaotic and half the population are off to the seaside with the kids!

Almost any normal weekend would be a better alternative?

Am I making any sense chaps?

            Bob

The show has been running for over 22 years, to the best of my Knowledge it has Always been the August Bank Holiday so no real surprise there..

In all the years I have been going I have never found the roads an issue..

I shall put some pictures up when I have sorted through the 1000 I took !!

The most recent home address we have for you is 9.3 miles from Haydock Park, of which only half is along the motorway. If that's still the case then I don't find your point in the least bit surprising.

Dyed in the Wool it should indeed be. But Died in the Wool conjures up visions of he dedicated modeller slumped over his workbench in the cardie his loving Wife knitted him for Christmas.

I do hope I'm not being prophetic here….

Yes it took me 13 Minutes this morning, every light for once in Warrington was green for me… However Roads on a Bank Holiday are normally chaotic on the Friday Evening and Monday Evening not so much in the middle, in my experience, I was not aware of any major roads leading to the area being congested apart from Saturday with Traffic going to Creamfields.. However I can see that Numbers could be affected with families going away and not wanting to go to a boat show on a 3 day Weekend..

I would find it interesting to see the demographics of the shows, but would be hard to find out unless someone took details of all visitors postcodes, probably the only one really would be Warwick where they have online booking.

Warwick this year is £ 9.50 on the day, costs have increased for the Venue this year quite substantially with further incremental increases due, and the ticket price was held this year as the leaflets had already gone out, however the show is a not for profit show with proceeds going to Charity's so no large cash pot to absorb increases, Hopefully the Convention will be able to donate some more again to charity's from this years show.

To watch a movie at the Cinema costs more.

For the first time in many years my health meant that I didn't go to Haydock and I am so disappointed.

I caught a cold from my little granddaughter, which in itself shouldn't be a problem but my colds have a nasty habit of turning into something far more serious so I reluctantly had to agree with Jane and stay at home.

I know that Larry and Dave will have taken lots of photos so I look forward to seeing them either on this forum or the Runcorn Club site.

Meanwhile I am confined to the lounge whilst the cold works its way through my system, another big letdown is that I have been trying to meet up with my friend and mentor over in Derbyshire but every time we make arrangements my health conspires to kick me in the nadgers and I have to cancel.

Steven Spielberg could do a remake of Groundhog Day of this as it has been going on for months and whilst my friend is very understanding he must be getting fed up with my 'here we go again' emails especially as he is a lot older than me and, like most of us he has his own health problems to worry about.

Oi! Referee!! "A lot"?? I'm still short of my state pension age (well, three months and a bit…).

Get well soon, junior – and I'm going to take Liz out for lunch tomorrow anyway

We miss Dave M on the Component / Action stand , and noticed without his presence the stand was a lot nosier than usual with people playing with all the push buttons to make pinging and Whoosh Whoosh Noises !!!! , and these were not the kids..
