I have just completed a cargo vessel which has single prop and bow thruster. They are each to be controlled by a 10A Mtronics unit. As I already have a Futaba 6 channel r/c system I would like advice on the setup, by that I mean I would use the present receiver slot for throttle. Can I use any of the remaining slots for the bow thruster (apart from the rudder control). I was hoping to use the horizontal movement on the throttle stick. Is this a feasible solution?

      All advice is appreciated

The usual set-up is to have the rudder on one stick and the bow-thruster on the other – both operated with a sideways movement. The MTroniks ESC has battery eliminator circuitry so you need to disconnect the red wire from the plug on ONE of the ESC's lead to the receiver. Leave the small switches on both of them ON, however.

What Dave said. The BECs in the ESCs power the internal parts of their ESC and, via the red wire, the receiver and anything plugged into the receiver. Two BECs into one power rail might not play nice, so disconnect one.

Both small switches will need to be "ON" for the circuits to work, but both need to be "OFF" when the system is powered down if the battery remains connected. A good idea is to mount them both together so that you can see that both are off. I've been caught by a black switch hiding in a dark recess resulting in a mysteriously flat battery before.

Thank you both for your very helpful inputs, I will make a jug of strong coffee and proceed with caution.

I saw this excellent post and the replies and I hope that you can help with lights for my first build.

I want to use the FLAPS switch on the tx to send a signal to FLAP on the RX and turn on cabin lights.

But I think I need some kind of a clever switch that will pop some current to LEDs or similar bulbs.

Can anyone tell me what the swith needs to be that makes this magic happen?

                Thanks

Either of these will do the job P115, P43
