        Hi Bob,

        Dartford / Greenhithe

It's just south and East of the Dartford crossing between the M25 & M2.

All designer expensive stuff not a useful hardware shop in sight

Google = Chantry MBC for the website

        Regards Ray

          Had your jabs yet?

We both have, feel a lot safer now, but we still wear our masks, to be on the safe side

          All the best

Been looking at slippers and ALMOST fancy building one, as putting a smart striped veneered deck on would be very easy. Rubbing strip from some dark shiny wood and a white hull…flat bottom as it doesn't need to go that fast….

Ashley (one jab, next beginning June)

              Hi Bob,

I'm going to make the worst joke about building 2 of them, one for each foot

Yes we have had our first jabs and the second booked for May So well organised, It almost makes me realise the British are at there best when something needs to be done,

We put our June holiday back to next year because of all the uncertainty.

              Regards Ray

                Hello Ashley

I know what you mean, Sunshine…… Veneer stripes, warm colours, lots of mahogany and a super gloss thrown in!

                Brushless motor eh?

Flat bottom?……What?……Can`t do that old chap, the plan calls for a vee bottom and a flat bottom would give the opposition an edge

                Bob

The search for squareness is very time consuming, but essential …….To a retired Engineer!

Still got a few adjustments to sort out yet

Brushless??? is the challenge a race or just who can build the nicest? Slippers are designed for dignified cruising, allowing you to sip your Pimms in comfort and not have to be strapped in all the time!

A low power 540 more like, personally speaking.

It`s nice to have the power for the odd dash about and crawl about for the Purists?

Will give it some thought nearer the time

Just glueing the hull walls etc in gradual stages at the moment

                      Very pleasing therapy

Nearly fully glued now and cast off the shackles!

Now for a close inspection and decide what to do next

Just been informed by the Club Webmaster that club blog has posted the link to this build

To demo the build for the pospective Challenge builders

What a pleasure it is to sand down the overlapping edges etc and general tidy up

Very pleasing to see the Cygnet grow into a Swan!

Sanding the rough hull surface to recieve the vee hull formers

The hull is secured fore `n` aft with clamps for a good solid grip

Using a man sized sanding block too

                                  Very satisfying

Will you veneer the hull as well as the top, or just stain-varnish the sides?

Will cut out the top deck next while the hull is a stable platform to work on?….eh?

Hoping to fit an MFA 850 motor inside, that should be ideal. since I`ve got two in stock already

                                          Hi There Ashley

I could use proper veneer or the sticky Fablon stuff

As I used on the big launch, Gentleman`s Vintage Cruiser. some years back

BTW……. Have you heard from Paul Thomason lately?

I sent him a PM last week, but have not had a reply

                                          I hope he`s OK/

I remember those Bob, and very effective, the fablon. Might be worth another go, would be much cheaper, and if varnished afterwards, would have that nice shine.

I enjoyed the video of the Slo Mo 2.

I don't remember the build blog. I guess it was quite big? Love the driver / pilot. I might even consider making a smaller version.

Don't think I could make one as good as that though.
