          Hello,

I have been using turboCAD now for a number of years and I am learning as I go But I have found it very useful in all the DIY projects I have done in the past.

I like the 2D drawing. Have you tried 3D yet? as I am playing with a 3D drawing of a plan that I hope to build from scratch.

Hoping for some tips on the CAD side then on the building of the model.

I have been using TurboCad since 1986 both at home and professionally and find it a lot easier than AutoCad now using Platinum Pro 19.

All my models are drawn on Cad but I still like to check the details by printing off the drawing and spreading it out on a table.

              Hi Paul

As I said I'm just learning as I go so I was off in the T/cad manual and their forum checking out the inserting a jpg picture which led me to tracing so hopefully that will be some assistace to the model drawings.

So far just getting co-ordinates from the plan and then inserting them into drawing, it may be the hard way but it's the way I know just now.

Yes there is nothing better to look at the drawings and I have just bought a New printer scanner for that purpose. As I have just a home office layout it is only an A3 but the new Epson WF 7515 put it within my budget so I hope to use it to print the model plans of the sections without loosing bits here and there.

I am also trying to learn how to use forums so there is a lot to learn.

I am using Platinum Pro 17

              Thanks

              George

                Hello George

I'm sorry to say that the trace facility is not very good (or too good) as it picks up every imperfection on the original image, you end up with a lot of information 'noise' which takes a long time to remove. The best way to copy an image is to laboriously manually trace it but this needs a high resolution image and using the zoom facility to get up close.

Now I am retired I only use an A4 printer / scanner and if I want to print an A1 size drawing I use the printers stitch facility and manually glue the A4 sheets together.

                Paul
