You can see a brief review by Dave Abbott here:

Loads of stuff online about building this model and converting to RC such as this:

Just do a bit of searching.

Thanks Colin, enough info to now get stern tube, prop and motor, so deck can go back on, but need to figure out rudder linkage system for easy attention and prop shaft servicing…

            Thanks again…rich

A bit of inspiration, you can make a superb job of an RC conversion of this model. She looks particularly good capturing a U-Boat as well.

I converted one about 14 years ago.

I used a 385 motor on 7.2 v and a 40mm 3 blade plastic prop. Changed the rudder for a commercial brass one. Runs very well with a bit of power in reserve in case it's needed.

I have both guns movable, a smoke unit and Morse messages flashing from the bridge. It's such a well known conversion that I found lots of bits of advice on the NET.

Thanks Tim, Good info…I am still researching, the sea rider I made uses a 6v gel cell battery, a 540 cheap buggy type motor from memory and a plastic 2 blade prop, will have to measure the size of that, but some good grounding work.

A 3 bladed prop would be better for looks when out of the water…the HMS romper I made has a ,3 blade prop…

With the advent of 2.4 radio gear all sorts of possibilities spring to mind these days, my aero 2.4 set can be used economically…working depth charges, now there's a thought.

Anyways I must be realistic, the local lake is quite choppy so water tightness is most important for now, the extras can come later.

My Corvette also used a 385 motor and a 7.2 v NiCad pack, which was more than enough for the model. It could certainly go at well above scale speed.

For an all weather model you need to ensure your access is restricted to removing the accommodation, which can then be protected by internal coaming. Some modellers have sections of the deck removable, which is OK for calm conditions but can be very limiting for scale North Atlantic sea conditions.

Mine used a 40 mm three bladed brass prop from prop shop.

The earliest review of a "Plastic Magic" conversion of the Corvette I can find is the Glynn Guest article in Model Boats June 1980 using the original Matchbox kit and the latest one by Francis Macnaughton in July 2017 with the then latest kit .Six articles in total about it. PM me if you need more details.

Thought about converting the 1/144th scale kit but the price here is outrageous – would have to starve for a month to pay for it………………..

                        Hi All,

Recently finished my Snowberry, my first RC Conversion – although have made models in the past…

She had her maiden sea trials at New Brighton Model Boating Lake about 6 weeks ago, and had a visit to the Bury Model Boat Club this weekend, where we were made very welcome…
