I have been looking carefully at the chine spray rail at the rear of the Boat, see picture. The boat tends to heel over quite a lot in turns and I wonder if the location of the chine spray rail has anything to do with that. It has obviously been made differently to the plan photo shown. Would adding something like the plan a certain length from the rear of the boat improve the heeling on turns. Sorry I could not get the pictures to appear correctly.

The rail hasn't been sectioned quite correctly, as you know, but I doubt if an extension would have much effect. Its purpose is more to keep the water from running up the sides and onto the deck to keep the occupants relatively dry. Deep vee hulls do lean over like a motor bike in turns – it's because of their shape and it's perfectly normal. The main problem occurs when over-enthusiastic skippers use the rudder stick more like a switch. If you slam the helm hard over at speed in a real H31 it will probably flip and chuck you into the oggin in very short order! The boat was designed to go like stink in a straight line, not to turn fast and flat like a competition hydro.
Not that I'm the world's greatest skipper but this is more the way it's done. You will see a slight oversteer towards the end of the video [about 1.45] – nobody's perfect! **LINK**

This is what the real ones got up to back when, and it wasn't shot at Wicksteed Park. **LINK**

There was an article in a Model Boats issue fairly recently which showed how to make a scale electric outboard using casting resin and a Turnigy brushless outrunner. I think it was written by John Parker.

I did one a few years ago using cast aluminium and they are easy to do, casting resin would be even easier for a novice as long as its done correctly and accurately.
