WWII oil tankers

Anybody know where I can get  plans for ww 2 oil tankers; particularly T2. My father skippered oil tankers during the war and I would like to build a model of one of his ships.

Hi Anthony,

I was once an Engineer on T2’s, though it seems more than a lifetime ago now. They are still, by far and away, my favourite ship. As for plans, they are not easy to come by, I’ve been (casually) looking for some time now.  There are some good  American web sites specifically for T2’s ( just google T2-SE-A1 ) and one of them sugests possible sources for drawings; I intended to follow them through, but I haven’t done so yet – too many other projects on the go. But I would be interested in what you dig up. Happy hunting.

Just had a thought. A regular attendee at the Model Engineering Exhibition is a magnificent model of the tanker Ohio, although not a T2 it’s very similar. It’s on a Club stand, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to track down both Club and builder, may-be ‘Model Boats’ could help you there. It’s such a good model her builder must have had access to drawings.
