Passsing on a problem from my brother, who has no internet acess.Ok here we go he has built an oil rig support vessel,of sorts,it’s about 4ft long by 9 inches wide,i guess,Any way he has 2 x 35mm props on 6 inch tubes. The one shaft is straight and true and the other shaft is also straight. could one of the universal joints be slightly out of line?? if so how does he check if it is 100% straight ??? A speedy reply would be good as he isnot known fr his patience where as i will walk away and come back another day he will blowlike a steam valve !!!!!!!!!!!! Many thanks

Take out both shafts and roll them on a piece of glass. You will be able to compare them and see any difference in how true they are.
To check the couplings just swap them over and see if the problem moves from one shaft to the other.
If the problem persists you might suspect the motor (very unlikely) or the tube.
I have seen a coupling where the hole was drilled and taped off-centre. If you have one of these just replace it.
