      Hi Folks,

My first post on this forum, took me ages to upload photos to an album, but got there in the end!

The Vigilant is a Mersey Docks and Harbour Company Salvage vessel built in 1953 and scrapped sometime in the early 1980’s. I’ve constructed the hull by plank on frame from the builders drawings, kindly supplied through a friend of a friend who was involved in breaking her up at Garston Docks in Liverpool.

The hull and superstructure are basically finished, painted with Halfords spray cans. I’m now working on the fore mast and heavy lift derricks which I’m fabricating from brass tubing.

I’ll update the album as things progress, all be it very slowly!!

      Peter

You can see the album here –

Hi Peter, I had a look at your album, the ship looks great. I see you have built it entirely in timber. Look forward to seeing any future photos as you finish the model and a picture on the water of course.
          David.
