Aaah the Thrustmaster, guaranteed to give satisfaction in any situation. Or your money back! 😂

Will be partaking of a hull wetting tomorrow morning as I had to do my good son bit today.

The Park will be awash with children all trying to nick a pirate but what the heck.

Ashley, what colour did you use for the London’s masts? I think it would suit the paddler, certainly add a bit of colour.

London masts are yellow ochre, acrylic artists paint, Rowneys I think. Went to a car boot sale today. Didn’t get anything. Car boots are not what they used to be..too many traders and what with advent of Bargain Hunt and similar programs, people are more aware of the value (or supposed value) of stuff.

Made a box for the lc(f) That’s the one with the pop poms on deck, but there was quite a bit of room either end, so ended up putting my original lander in there as it’s 2 inches longer than the others, and the lc(f) fits nicely in the half box that the other one was in.

Ferry has been a bit wobbly since it’s conversion from a lander, and I have now put two larger prop guard/keels on it to act as bilge keels, also glued a lump of sheet lead underneath, and this replaces all the bits that were inside. Hopefully the lower c of g and dampening effect will stop it wallowing so much. Just need to look at the rudder issue now.

Have fixed ferry rudder issue…looks like it was the servo. Changed and all ok now.

Any art shop will have acrylic paint.

Peter, have found some builders as we discussed, a possible for your big propeller boat. will bring them along next week for your perusal.

Builders provide a good source of boat friendly poses, doing, as they do do, lifting, pulling and wotnot. Virtually all the 70 men on the London are in poses that could be construed as proper for their position on deck.

Hi all, had a very blustery morning at the pond with the Gull doing America cup impressions and some sea sick pirates afterwards!

Got stuck into the hatch covers this afternoon, (see album) still lots to do, masts, bowsprit and the dreaded deck planking! The twin beams I’ve timed at 90 degrees on the drive cams and last trip out they looked the part, gets a bit manic at full speed though.

                :Looking good Richard.

As you do. I have discovered another project (for the list). This is exciting in that I can use commercial aircraft to populate the deck, and not ones which you have ever seen on a ship. Also very exciting is that will be something no one has ever seen or even heard of.

Doing ships with aircraft on is always tricky as making small aircraft is difficult. One, maybe, but half a dozen..all the same….very tricky.

I should be able to keep it to approx. 1/100 scale and thus about 1100mm by 150mm.

HOWEVER….two projects need finishing first, and a third started before this one.

Will have to nip off sharp on Sunday as playing at Runnymede in the afternoon.

                  Ashley,

won’t be there Sunday, family stuff, went down yesterday for a paddle and saw your mobile fence perches, didn’t bring them home as I won’t see you Sunday and if there still there since last week I don’t think anybody would walk off with them.

                  hope to catch you soon.

will have Hovervan, ww1 aircraft carrier Argus, ferry and that’s it. Have to be away by 1130 latest.

Another great morning at the lake. Ferry was played with by a small boy (who played with it last week) but I played with the `van and a/c carrier.

Also present were the usual suspects with assorted fishing/harbour/fire/paddle and pirate types.

Modifications to ferry with the lead weight removed from inside and stuck on the bottom, and the sort of bilge keels hanging down either side do not seem to have had much effect. I am going to fit longer but shallower b/keels at the correct 45 degree angle either side and hopefully that will stabilise it a bit. Means making another box, but the current receptacle is only cardboard and can be binned pending a plywood one. My lighter Landrover also needs a different hold down, as it is not heavy enough to stay in place with all the violent manoovering that goes on. Perhaps a magnet or a wire hold-down?

                      Ashley

Seems like the grass on the grassy-knoll was cut last week and the fence perches have been taken away. Never mind…I will make another pair and this time paint the tops white so I don't forget to take them away next time.

Sorry Ashley should have picked your perches up when I saw them, must have been the park people?

Didn't expect to be there today but a change of visitor time freed up the morning. Paddler went well, going to look splendid once all the railings, crew and masts are fettled.

Bit hit and miss with the Gull, odd wind, seemed to be coming from all directions at the same time!

Might have a paddle this week, will check weather and post.

Hi Richard. Unfortunately I play with a band on weds morning so am unavailable sorry.

Richard had some bits of dowel (masts) on the paddler on Sunday and what a difference they make to an (essentially) sailing type vessel. Restores proportion and so on very nicely.

oddly enough Ray (where are you??) has his 5 foot Belfast down one day awhile back, with no superstructure, for a test, and that looked really odd…the turrets looked to be much too far apart.

Ferry bottom painted after new bilge keels, and the other bits of lead which were inside at the rear have been stuck on the bottom. I am expecting a noticeable improvement in stability….

Not only that, but some oversize =tires= have been glued on front and rear to help preserve the paint. I am not over worried about paint loss but there are two gloss colours to do on this one rather than the simply undercoat grey of the landers. Using acrylic Rustins undercoat for the grey ones is very easy, with water washable brushes and fast dry time.

That’s ok Ashley it’s an open invite and Wednesday seems to be the best day this week.

yes I use Rustins water based varnish for the decking and the oil based Matt varnish for the hull planking, had no issues with it in the past two years and my boats are in the water a lot!

just got back from Manatu models with a haul of dead eyes, railing posts and rigging cord now it’s time for the detail and more bloody rigging! I am my own worst enemy!

. After a rescue operation it looked like the entire fan-rotor had disintegrated. The screw was still there, so it didn't come undone or was loose.??
