Wow. Where did you get the buccs? from that place you said? The deck detail on a carrier is the bit people look at, so not wasting time at all.

Yes. eat drink, drink, a bit more drink, eat….fall asleep….drink….beerbeerbeerface 7

        Hi Noel,

Love the Bucc's saw 2 chasing each other flying over us at our flying field in Kent early eighties, I can still see them now

Cant wait to escort your carrier at Bushy with my destroyers in 2021

        Best Regards Ray

Thanks everyone. The buccs are Tamiya 1/100 scale kits. The one in the foreground i found on ebay already made up and i have repainted it in 809 NAS livery. The other two are new kits that I made up and modified with folded wings. Tamiya kit has correct decals for 809 squadron as embarked on ark in early 70s so bit of a bonus. Got the kits from a shop in Toronto. Theres one more I have found in-stock at a model shop in the Netherlands so will probably buy that and add a fourth. They are quite a scarce kit. Tamiya have rereleased some of their 1/100 range recently but not the bucc unfortunately!

Hopefully will be on the water in 2021!!

Blackburn Buccaneers were my favourite a/c as a lad. They would be lined up on deck of the carriers when they visited Hong Kong harbour. You will have 'absorbed' the world supplies of 1/100 buccaneers by the next year then?

Nice detail work Noel -and as others say, the icing on the cake!

Great thing the Buccaneer, fit for purpose in every way, when they retired them it was said that the only replacement foraBuccaneer was another Buccaneer. As it is we have no dedicated maritime strike and indeed nothing to shoot at ships barring Brimstone anti tank missiles, an appalling failing.

Sub finished barring a spray coat of gloss varnish and obviously testing but…a necessary follow-on build is on the drawing board, although I need to think carefully about this one.

Something with wheels and another (that goes bump in the night day) also being sketched but that’s not for just yet.

Thank you Roger…at least you and me festive eh?.?!

Great self pressie! Just what the doctor ordered for the Btr build, bit of a gamble as sometimes the cheap figures are hollow at the rear but these are ok and a nice 75mm size. Weapons no use of course.

Spray varnished sub top just before Xmas and it looks good, well pleased.

hopefully a bit of ice and even snow soon?

Not only will these chaps be perfect for a BTR90, but they will also do as Aquaphibians! A bit of sanding and filling, a fishy crest and a dark green paint job. Perfect…

Making a box for Sting now and then it can be stowed away safely awaiting a bit of warmth.

Before that we needs ice and snow of course for the Tup’n’Zis.

went over a few days back and the feeder stream was iced over but not the pond at that stage

                                may recce it tomorrow

Nothing to suggest parks in London due to close at moment, but they are hilariously busy. Visited on Tuesday lunchtime but car park rammed and loads of cars doing the nose to tail shuffle round so sacked it off and went for a walk along the river at Cowey Sale.

Unintended consequence of closing down pretty much all leisure is that parks and riverside walk type areas are rammoed. Still, better than getting cabin fever indoors.

Golly gosh chaps…ice!! But thin and patchy. If we have another cold day tomorrow and a freezing night then I reckon a morning Tup test will be in order. On the other hand, a test in looser ice could prove something (like..the inevitable)

Park again rammed. It s ruining all the paths. They are being turned into Buffalo wallows not paths.

Finished Sting box and while I was at it I have put carrying string handles on half a dozen other boat boxes.. it does make them easier to carry , can be done one-handed allowing the carriage of RUM and mince pies in the other….ooo arrr me’ hearties!

Went Tup testing Wednesday morn about 9 ish, took half a hour to get out at 11:30! It’s madness at the moment, suggest if going go early, no later than 8, at least you can escape before you get hemmed in.

The Tup went well, few adjustments to do but that was expected. Has a slight lean to port under full power? Torque reaction?? Answers on a postcard 😂

Lots of lean on my tup at speed, probably is torque reaction, tried adding off centre weight to counter act but no noticeable difference.

Car park full by ten on Tuesday and queuing to get out at half twelve.

Sorting out the fishy in 3D is a bit of a task, but with the base cut and the rear spine also cut, it is starting to make sense.

Depressingly my diary is telling me that Stingray only took 7 weeks to build, including box.

Thats 7×7 = 49 days, and probably I did something or other to it on all 49 days.

If I were at work, that would have represented about say 25 week-ends, or 25 weeks/6 months worth of work.

The fishy has just been started and no doubt it will be done in another 6 weeks. I do have a something meatier to do of course but even then it won’t take that long.

At some stage, likely sooner rather than later, something might have to go to make room, and the candidate at the top of the list in my beloved Fantome, a boat I rarely use, but one that occupies probably four landing craft boxes worth of room. The carpet carrier and German LFM landing craft are also less used items (and I have a better carrier to sail in any event). As these things are in boxes, the smaller ones could be stacked on the floor as an option, and also as the roof rises at the rear, there is more room to be had at the expense of easy access.

Covid has a lot to answer for.

The fish is proving problematic and I am being very artful. The head is semi-shaped and looking good. I need some 60mm clear acrylic spheres for the eyes now, or at least, I will do .

The head is solid foam and I was planning to coat the thing with release agent and scrape the foam out once it is fibreglassed but if i just resin the outside and carefully scrape the inside, that will do….no need to put glass cloth on.
