AND, having left a low voltage alarm on one of my 2s Lipos, one cell has dropped to 1.5v and is u/s now…

Was it the alarm that drained it????? nuisance.

Seems Odd, wouldn't have thought the alarm would draw more than a few milliamps. I only have the one LiPo boat and I disconnect the battery completely at the end of the session to dissuade it from getting into mischief.

Hi All,

The golden rule with lipos is to always store them fully charged I heard, been flying & floating with them 6-7 years the only problem I've had is when they start venting and inflate, then time to ditch. Nicads take more abuse I find 😀 but are heavy.

Went for a quick boat with Richard (Pirate ship/paddler) and took the New Jersey along, as its an easy boat to boat with.

However a build time of a "few weekends" is not so impressive as Richards "year or so" for the Monitor.

Ashley PS. NO BOATING Sunday as the poxy cycle race will be blocking all the roads and Hampton court bridge.

Very nice mornings sailing, always nice to have a fellow boater to chat to fend off the sometimes stupid questions from the general masses, like has it got a Diesel engine in it! ( I was asked that as I got a yacht out of my car once)

The paddler looks very regal splashing round the pond but definitely a calm day boat as there’s a lot of rolling around if it’s breezy, I suppose the real ones were the same?

Had a nice mornings sailing with my old boater friend John, me with the Gull and him with his substantial pilotcutter.

Breezy was the weather and the rescue wellies came into play on a few occasions. We left just before the showers caught us so a good morning all round.

Its a bit windy here (as elsewhere) and just possibly it will still be windy tomorrow for BOATING.

I am taking the German WW2 LFM lander, carpet carrier and a.n.other…possibly the larger lander? or woteva.

Hi all,

Have been busy knocking up a rowboat, have a nice Toy Story Woody figure which has been lurking on a shelf in my garage and thought it’s about time to do one. It’s all Peter’s fault after seeing his excellent Indian canoe in action!

The rowing mech has been an interesting exercise as I wanted to be able to stop one oar at a time for steering. I’ve gone back to my mechanical roots and built two dog clutches operated by a servo (see album) also I’ve used Lego Tecknic again for the drive train, I would recommend Lego for drive applications as it’s quite sturdy when you superglue the bricks together and the plastic gears are very quiet.

The Woody rowboat is finished and will debut at the pond on Sunday!

So if Peter brings his Indian canoe we can have some cowboys and Indians action! Ha ha!

LAST week. Woody the rower went acceptably well. Good even. Great really.

I had a quick buzz around the pond with the Seahawk, then to the Manchester.

This week…who knows??? Might do the London.

After Woody’s debut last Sunday I took him for a filming paddle on Thursday which went well until he stripped a Lego gear( had a bit of a tight spot on the brass rowing mech) luckily I had done all the filming by then.

He’s now on YouTube under ‘woody at bushy park ‘. Advance apologies for the crap music!

Sundays boating great fun.

Had the London out for a twirl, and the Hobbies Hydro. |A small boy played with the ferry for over two hours (until the tx batts started to go) while his grandad tried to look interested…

Otherwise, Var pirate ships, woody rower, Indian rower, fire boat and Dragonfly all went well.

Best of all was Richards Bismark (was it?) sinking. Twice. Once in shallow water and recovered, then in deep water (not recovered. A fine effort, a slow steady roll to port followed by a graceful dive leaving the bow sticking up in classic fashion. Great piece of work. Second boat in trouble was a cheap RTR, not one of ours, which was recovered after the owners filled in the normal salvage paperwork.

Like the mature persons we were nobody had a mobile phone immediately to hand to film the proceedings.

After seeing a forum post for the Kirklees model boat club I had a browse at there website and followed the link to the sailing section 'Rofwac' after making contact I paid them a visit at lunchtime today and enjoyed a very warm welcome and some sailing 👍

I have never sailed a yacht before, pond yachts excluded and within 5 minutes of being there was given a radio set and some instruction. JIF was the model and I have to say it was a great experience.

My thanks to the chaps there are I look forwards to going again.

Sadly the Bushy park Boaters do not have a website, however the car park is free and a few seconds walk from the jetty, refreshments stall other side of car park and loo`s a 4 min walk away.

we are slowly gaining some sailing vessels, and oddly enough there were 4 sailing vessels out last Sunday (or was it the Sunday before?)

Well another hopefully dry Sunday cometh, after last weekends sailing I was horrified to find the rudder on the Galleon had de laminated plus squidgy bits were found in the keel. I had to chop the rudder in half and graft a new lower part on and a complete below waterline refurb. It’s all back together now including a long overdue streamlined drop keel, might sail a bit faster now, will find out tomorrow.

Woody is working better now I’ve swapped out the glitchy 27meg radio for a 2.4gig set robbed from my paddler, another acid test tomorrow.
