For sentimental reasons I would like to build a working scale model of Scillonian 2 and need some accurate drawings. So far I have managed to locate drawings from the internet which give 2 half sections and deck plans and profile, all a bit short on detail. What I require is some GA drawings and Body plans which will provide hull shape etc.

      Can anybody out there help?

My model plans drawn from builders drawings were published in, I think, Marine Modelling magazine. If not was MB, Jim

Jim's plan was for Marine Modelling and was Scillonian III not Scillonian II.

Looks like you might be able to get a card model here: **LINK**

I recall sailing on the ship myself back in the 1960s with Harold Wilson aboard. His wife went by Helicopter!

Thanks guys for the information. I have the card waterline model and copies of the drawings upon which it was based. I have sections , a profile and deck plans from the web. I am waiting to hear from the NMM about the availability of drawings from them. If anyone has pictures of the deck fittings life raft seats etc these can also go into the mix.

Having started Scillonian 2 and found the drawings I had unsuitable for a working model I have been building a model of Scillonian III using James Pottinger drawings . Progress so far is a hull with motors, rudders, decks fore and aft so I am now planning a bit ahead. I will be needing some 200 flat plate stanchions to support the railings. Has anybody any ideas as how I can make these in brass as they will be in a vulnerable position? Thanks in advance

                  Hi Trevor

Brass photo etched stanchions from somebody like John Haynes are ideal and come in a range of sizes and numbers of rails, he has a website.

                  Regards Ray

                    Hi Ray

Thanks for the suggestion, I did find some useful stuff on the Haynes site but sadly no stanchions of the size required. I didn't mention in my last post that the model is to 1/64 scale (3/16 =1'-0'&#39 so the stanchions need to be 3/4" high by 3/32" wide with 4 equally spaced holes. I will probably have to come up with a DIY solution!
