      Hi folks,

Anyone any ideas where I can obtain accurate plans for these German E-boats.

I would like to build it at 1/35 scale some that figures will not be a problem. Anyone built one?

      Thanks in advance

      Kevin

There´s one right now on Ebay. The seller is “davesdrydock”, the item number is 190124350220.

        Good luck,
        GUIDO.

          Hi Guido,

Thanks for the info. Looks just the job, I’ve placed an order so that looks like the next project sorted.

          Cheers

            Hi Guido,

Just a quick note to say thanks for the link on the schnellboot. Recd plans on Sat, excellent quality at a resonable price.

            Cheers
            Kevin

                Hi Kevin.
It looks like ITALERI are going to release a 1:35th Scale E-Boat later this year. Keep your eyes open for that one, if its anything like the P.T Boat it will be a cracker.

                  Hi Gary,
Cheers for that info. Just bought the Italeri PT boat for the next project, as you say its good. Have you got it , do you intend to use it on the water?

                    Hi Kevin.
Yes I have got the PT boat, but i still can’t decide whether or not to put RC in it. I have been looking around to see if anyone has done an artical on the subject but upto now I have come up with a big ZERO. However I have found some web pages you may be intrested in.

                    http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/italeri/it5602.htm

                    http://www.ipmsusa2.org/Reviews/Kits/Ships/italeri_35_pt596/italeri_35_pt596.htm

Hope you find them to your liking, when you start the build do you intend to put it on the water?
Take some pictures and put them on the Model Boat web site. Keep up the good work.

                    Gary.

                      Hi Gary,
Thanks for those links, I’d not seen the IPMS one before.

Yes I intend to put mine on the water but I wont be starting it until later in the year..I,m about half way through building a 1/16th scale Bristol channel pilot cutter. Which in case you dont know is a sailing boat dimensions approx 1500 (5′) long x 1800 (6′) high and weighing in about 13.5kgs. One extreme to the other!!

The thread started with the schnellboot, then came the pt boat which I’m impressed with and as you pointed out if Italeri produce an E-boat of the same quality this could be the way to go.
The following link is a bit jumbled but there are some ideas. The second link is from this forum and when u watch the movie I think u might be tempted to go for R/C.

Last but not least either ‘Model boats’ or ‘Marine modeling’ is going to do an R/C build in the near future

Hope the above will be of use

                      Regards Kevin

                        Hi Kevin,

I’m just about to build a Scnellboot but I’m buying the hull from Metcalf Mouldings which is 57″ long at 1/24 scale and this comes complete with drawings. I have also just bought two books which will I am sure be invaluable – ‘German S Boats’ by Steve Wiper (Chatham Publishing) and ‘Schnellboot in Action’ by T.Garth Connelly and David L.Krakow published by Squadron/signal publications.

A great web site is http://www.princeugen.com – well worth looking at. I have lots of other site details if you want them as well as sources for paint and some fittings. If you go 1/24 and build a S-38 class as opposed to the S-100 then I can also supply you with a few surplus fittings.

                          Hi Stuart,

Thanks for the info. Look forward to seeing some pics of your build.

I’ll stick to 1/35 scale though – I like to put figures on my boats and there are no quality 1/24 figures out there, least not that I can find. Perhaps I’m to fussy, I spent several years figure modeling.

                          Regards Kevin

If it is any help, MB had an article about the 32nd PT boats a year or two ago, and I put R/C into the Lindberg one in the mid-80s, with various configurations. The best had two shafts geared to a 540, with, I think, 35mm twinblade props and a 7 cell1.2Ah nicad pack, and went like a bat out of hell. (See Airfix magazine, 1984?).

Vic Smeed published a Schnellboote plan at 1/32 through MB. Not difficult to scale down, in sections, with a computer/scanner/printer.

The 1/35th scale version would have to be lighter – about 3/4 the weight – so smaller battery – but no doubt the same energy, after 30 years of development.

The Schnellboote should manage pretty well on a 540, and with more displacement available for batteries, as it was almost twice the displacement of the PT boat.

                                Cheers

Found this website that shows plans for the S-100 Schnellboot.
It details several parts of the boat. Thought it may interest you.
