Mac. Any particular model, your boat ?? picture?? i would say one of those rudders in brass that come with a nylon tube and tiller in the "large" size would be man enough, however a different style may be needed to match your boat. Ashley

Assuming the rudder is close behind the propellor I suggest about fifty percent taller than the diameter of the prop and about the diam of prop wide or ‘long’.

Sort of a scratch build, an adapted Skipper Debden 15 inch boat. I think I have made the rudder too small?

Not too bad, but may benefit from being a bit larger. Generally yacht rudders are bigger than for powered boats which was the question posed by this thread and rudders for models usually have to be bigger relative to full-size craft, to be effective.

                    Hi Joel,

It's not really a rudder as on Chris's RC Dragon Force yacht for changing course or tacking, It's only a trim tab to correct the boats course with the vain relative to the wind direction, so it will be fine

                    Regards Ray

Hey Ray, nice to hear that, yes, just for trimming to changes in the wind.

So looking forward to some sea trials.
