      Hello Rick

These boats were made by my brother, btw,  for his grandson, so they can go sailing together

The original Star yacht was an Endeavour and it had a hollow hull….Is your boat a solid hull?……….That`s strange, perhaps your’s is a repro too?

          Hi all,
I have followed this with interest as I had a Star yacht as  boy. It had the name Endeavour on it. I couldn’t remember whether this was something I added with delusions of grandeur but  it look as though it was the original name. It used to beat up and down the pond at Weston as straight as a die and gave hours of fun. I had the boat into teenage years and I’m pretty certain it was a hollow hull.
My brother and I stood each end of the pond and just turned her each time- we both wore sailor hats of which we were inordinately proud. This would have been in the early sixties- a more innocent time altogether for children- or would we have been regarded as prats by more savvy kids even then!
I too picked up a Star yacht at a jumble and have been meaning to restore it but the lack of suitable water has put me off and you just can’t get the hats these days either.
I think the smaller Star yachts were solid- we had one of those too but it didn’t sail as well if at all.
          All the best,
          Ian Gardner

you lucky lot….my mum and dad could never afford to buy me one as a little lad, even though I had the perfect place ( Fleetwood) to sail it.

And what was worse than that, there was a shop on Fleetwood prom near the old railway station that used to stock the lot and displayed them in a lovely large shop window….I used to drool every time I passed the place.

I always fancied one of the big un’s with all the jib sails……..delusions of grandure perhaps???

                The original ‘Footy’?
I am begining to wonder if the star Yachts were in fact the free sailing ancestors of the Footy class! They seem to have quite a following still. I really will have to try and find one for myself.
How about organising some races Star owners?
                Rick.
