Hi All, I have been asked by one of those people who sit on the bank of either a River, Canal or Pond with a stick and a length of line giving a Worm or Maggot a swimming lesson to produce for him a BAIT BOAT, do any of you know where I can get a simple plan for one of these. Hope someone can oblige me with the information. Thanks, R Walters

        Hi Robert,

Hobbies of Norfolk, offer an ‘Anglers Baiter’ — the ‘Kingfisher’, as either a plan or a kit. Plan ref P270 or kit ref K270. They also offer a radio and power pack ref K270RC. The complete package requires all 3 items.

There is a detailed description in their magazine, but a breif description says – everything designed for the angler.

Hobbies of Norfolk tel 01508 549330 or http://www.alwayshobbies.com and search on kingfisher.

        Hope this helps, Tony

The thought strikes me, not knowing the law in the UK , that for use away from model boat/Club activities it would be fairly safe to buy a cheap r/c toy and utilise the control system from it. The other solution is to make the boat tethered with a simple control line**, string , cutting power to boat when it reaches the correct spot, acting as a rather large ‘float’ and holding the bait hung down from it.  Perhaps two lines out to the boat … the string and the fishing line proper which when the fish is hooked breaks free from the boat ….. just some wild ideas as I write this …. there was a long thread recently on the subject here at Model Boats.

** I noticed such a thing in the forerunner of Model Boats ….Model Maker and Model Cars back in a 1969 issue just last night when I was searching for something else

Thanks for the information, but the person I am dealing with wants something he can play with whilst sitting on the bank, he gets fed up he says just watching his float bob up and down.
