hi steamboaters. can anyone tell me if there is an official endurance record for model steamboats. and if so what the record is. if there is no official record i would like to hear from anyone who thinks their boat has an exceptional running time and what engine and boiler they are using. thanks, pip jones.

In June 1990 at the Stevenage 24hr Enduro Kevin Grundy sailed his steam powered custom and excise launch ‘Guardsman’ a total of 3.73 miles over the 24 hours of the event. Reference Radio Conrol Boat Modeller September/October 1990. I don’t know whether this was ever made official but it was still a good effort. It had a Staurt compound engine and large boiler with feed pump to allow it to run for long periods.
