Model Boats Plan Features Special 2012

The Cover and Contents of the 2012 Model Boats Plan Feature Special can now be viewed from the Home Page together with ordering information.

This Special Issue features some of the best plan projects published over the last 60 years plus some interesting support articles on tricky modelling techniques.

Many current readers will be unfamiliar with much of the material, while those who may remember it will welcome seeing it again and may be prompted to have a go at projects that they would never have attempted when they first appeared!

Each article has a foreword and sometimes an afterword bringing it into a modern context but the quality of the original material, written by top class boat modellers, remains as valuable as it was when first published.

The free plan of HMS Sheffield, from Glynn Guest is perhaps one of his best and makes up into a truly impressive model with excellent performance well within the capability of most modellers.

As a bonus, we are also providing a full listing of the current range of MyHobbyStore model boat plans altough you will need to go online for detailed descriptions.

Although the issue features plans and by implication scratch building, it is now possible to purchase commercial hulls and fittings for many of the projects which bring them well within the ability of the average modeller while other subjects were always intended to favour the less expertienced builder.

So, hopefully, there is something here for everyone and I hope it will be seen as a general celebration of the art of model boating.
