      Sorry for any multiple postings but each time I successfully get the photos to appear my message disappears. I'll try once more.

      The attached boat model I found at the Goodwill Clearance Center. It is 36" long and solid wood. What kind of boat is it? A gaff cutter or pilot cutter maybe. Why no keel?

          Hi David,

          Yes I would say it's a Gaff cutter, It looks like a display model not intended to sail, It has a long keel in keeping with the full size vessel. Companies like Naticalia used to sell these as window ornaments, now seem to be loads of them on Ebay.

            Ray,

            Thanks for the reply. I looked at Nauticalia's current crop and some others on ebay which seem to be much nicer than this model which looks scratch built and substantially larger. But the cross section and profile of the hull you figure to be a cutter type? (I'm a landlubber, stranded in the Arizona desert.)
