While my Clyde Puffer build is going very slow, with a reconstruction of my workspace in progress, I thought I would use the upcoming birthday as an excuse to get a RTR model, so I
– could have something larger then my very small test boat
– could have a second boat to make some interaction with my daughter
– could test some things planned for the puffer
– close scale to my puffer, 1:28 is close enough to 1:30 for me
So, after seing a highly discounted Aquacraft Bristol Trawler RTR in a clearance sale of one of German stores, I just ordered it. It contains a 4ch 2.4 Ghz control, and only needs a LiPo set to go plus some AA cells for the controls and for LED box.
Some mods would definitely be done:
For power, I do not like LiPo – I worked in mobile phone development area, and seen too many LiPos to burst in flames, so they are unwelcome in my home. I opted to use the LiFePo4 packs from HobbyKing, which are ordered now.
As I think LED box with extra cells is somehow silly, DC-DC Buck will be used, or directly BEC.
Crew will be added, with many guys on order for my puffer.
Adding sound, exhaust, working fishing gear..
A question – the ESC is designed for LiPo, not for LiFePo4, according to the manual. LiFePo4 have different cutoff values, etc.. which ESC is installed, can it be reprogrammed?
