Matilda is still in the building stage.
The rudder controls are sorted out, the prop shafts and motors are sorted out, the battery tray is sorted out, the electronic  (semi)  waterproof container is just about sorted out, the cabin and aft cockpit are almost sorted out, and  I’ve put 2 coats of finish enamel onto the hull.
I’m sorry that the people in the UK are freezing tour b***s off, but today it was about 29degC and about 90% humidity. Not a good time to spray paint!!

Great shape to that hull. Are you having the boat populated with sailors of one description or another??

            I intend to.
It’s just that I get funny looks when I’m in a toy shop, looking at the dolls,

I recruited the crew today, press-ganged from the Salvation Army shop. I think the dark haired one could undergo a sex change operation and be promoted to Captain.

At last Matilda has hit the water!
Unfortunatly the a fuse kept blowing, I,ve ordered smaller props from George Saitek, they are due anyday now.
Still things to be done, (that nasty 4 letter word …..work…… gets in the way!)
This photo is about half power, 1 motor going.

Well done Michael- she looks great. Would be nice to know a little more about the design (where you got it!) and more pics when you have things sorted out to your satisfaction.

                    Thanks Ian,
The plans are from http://www.freeshipplans.com , they come as .jpg, If you really want a copy I can email them as .pdf (Heaps easier to work with!)

                      Thanks Michael,
What an interesting site. Presumably your model is Mistral- a fine looking vessel. I don’t need the plans- I was just interested. I am a sucker for plans though and  have more than I could build in a lifetime! By the way I  have installed my twin shafts and brackets- it went well I think.

Hi Ian, yes it is a Mistral, (a few mods to the cabin and cockpit area)
I took her out for another run this morning, with smaller props, and she sails just as a gentlemans motor-cruiser should!!!
A few issues with the batteries, etc, nothing that can, be cured.
                        I’m HAPPY!!!!!
Takes a bit of water over the foredeck, and aft cockpit area,  when she hits her own wake though, might upset the blondie sitting with her G&T down near the stern
Pitty we did’nt have a camera.

It’s looking good. It would be great to see some more photos  when you have time. By the way did you build it at the 1250mmx 292mm marked on the plan? I printed off an A4 copy for fun. If so that must be quite a weight!   Must make an impressive boat on the water.

Nol, I re-scaled it to 820mm, so that it fits into the boot of the car.
                            Sailing weight is 4.5kg,
Two 540 type motors, 25mm props, gives it a top speed of a bit over scale speed by the look of it.
