I fitted it into the sea this morning.     The pen is not very old as I use it as well.    Eventually, I either lose them or get glue on them making them unsuitable for photographs.

She is interested in the sea anyway, her late grandfather was over 30 years at sea, mainly in deepwater ships, including  some quite famous square riggers such as COUNTY OF PEEBLES, BALCLUTHA, PERSIAN EMPIRE and EUDORA.     When I was at sea, she accompanied me on long voayegs from the UK to Cape Town via the islands of the Canaries, St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha and so had plenty of time to observe the sea in all its moods.     She volunterred to paint the seas shortly after we got married 22 years ago!

I made a complete mess of the case I am afaid – it is not tall enough!   I am going to make another one.   Not a complete disaster because I can still use the orignal quadrant moulding round the bottom of it.
I took a picture alongside POLITICIAN and will put it on tomorrow.

Thanks Bob……………….I`m surprised Mary Celeste is as big as she looks?

I always get fed up three-quarters way through a model.   This never changes – very little patience!    It amuses me when people say they haven’t got time to scratchbuild and then tell me how many hundreds of hours they have spent on their kits!      I now have to make a taller display case, but that shouldn’t take too long.    The original was only an inch above the mastheads and that is not really enough.    The model looks bigger than it is alongside POLITICIAN because it is not in the sea.    Ships always look bigger out of the water than they actually are.     Most people think VICTORY is enormous, but in reality, not much bigger than a trawler.

I have now assembled the new display case and will veneer it today.       Was very annoyed to break a bandsaw blade whilst cutting the acrylic – another £8 gone and only a few weeks old!

Here it is inside the new display case.   Looks a lot better with plenty of room over the mastheads.

When you place the curser on a picture, if a hand appears, it generally means that you can either enlarge it, or there is something behind that can be revealed by clicking on it!
This is common all over the internet.
