I always look for cheap innovative ways to pursue my hobbies. Whilst wondering what to do with dollar store ink pens that wont work, a thought hit me to convert them into prop shafts. The diagram shows how it’s done. This shaft could be used for small-medium boats using a 380 motor or less. Here, I”m putting such a shaft into one of those toy harbor patrol boats that is getting converted to full R/C. The beauty of this is that ANY plastic pen body will work as long you can maintain a seal. The shaft I made uses 5/32 (4mm) brass tube sections as inner sleeves and a 1/8 (3mm) shaft for the prop.
