          HI ALL,
Started the build, new learning curve , first model of this type,
hope i dont mess up , so went for a mock up to start using card,
dummy run to get my head round build lines, card is cheaper than styrene and ply.
also end up with a set of templates, still looking for deck lay outs ,
          also any build ideas……..LARRY

That`s a very sensible approach, Larry!

The main snag with plastic superstructure is the weight, liteply might be a better option?

Like your portrait on the back wall?

                HELLO back again,
wheel house and cabins ,formed plus subdeck tempory fited.
a lot of errors in hull shape allover place had to pull to shape using centure
datum line taken from drawing, witch is is difrent to hull lines ,
may be hull mould or deflected on curing.
but got round it next move is to work on gunals a lot of filler and sanding to get
                a workable finish. …….LARRY…

                      Hello Larry

I would simply cap the top edges

                      Out of sight……Out of mind….eh?

Bob is right, I have used small brass channel to cap bulwarks and it gives a good result. As far as the inside of the bulwarks is concerned the ‘standard’ answer is to use car body filler to smooth them off but I have found it better to uses short lengths of thin ply or plasticard attached with contact adhesive. If you are using plasticard then only use a smear of adhesive as some types can eat into the card and softn it. Use filler to seal any gaps between the sheet sections. I have found this method to work very well on two models and it’s a lot less messy than the filler route.

Do the capping after you have put the sheeting on the inside of the bulwarks.

i think its down to bad mould build …..both are hobby store products …Larry…..

hull did not match plan , and was a bad moulding , and plan lacked detail so ,

                                                      Hello Larry

You've certainly given your boat a good weathering!

One thing that stands out ……….is the squeaky clean deck!

Take for instance the deck under the very mucky winch and those green tub things

With such a mucky boat, there needs to be a build up of grime all around anything that rests on the deck

I would use acrylic paint…..umber and burnt umber with some matt black sparingly

Where the crew actually walk, should be reasonably clear

                                                      Does this suggestion make sense?

                                                      Bob
