I haven’t seen that particular item but there have been earlier reports that the operation is in financial difficulty. This cannot have been helped by the bad weather last month which kept Waverley in port for the better part of a week while she was on the South Coast.
I have also heard it said that the sailing programme does not change from year to year, the ship is always in the same place at the same time. Once you have travelled on her a couple of times there is less incentive to take further trips and some people feel that if the sailing programme was changed around a bit then they might attract more customers. For example, sailing around the Isle of Wight always occurs in September when the weather can be pretty chancy. If people had the option to do this during high summer with more reliable weather and the kids off school then passenger numbers might go up a bit. Granted this would impact on other areas but ringing the changes wityh the sailing programme might freshen things up a little.
