Hi All period model ship builders.

I have a question regarding the detailing of ships interiors. I am about to start the Di Agostini HMS Victory, the kit allows the option of keeping part of the hull open to view, I was hoping to extend this by opening more of the hull. if anyone has already done this could they give me any tips on how to go about it?
