          Hello Dave

I would use exterior ply on all parts of the model. 10mm keel, 8mm frames and 4mm skin.

However to reduce material costs it would be possible to use the 8mm for the keel but this would depend upon the eventual conditions that the model will be used in, low speed on a pond would be fine but IC powered high speed over rough water would need the extra strength.

Given of the size of the model I would also glue and screw every joint.

          Hope this helps

          Paul

            hi paul

            thanks it helps a lot.

i think i can get away with the 8mm keel as it will have an elec motor in it

not sure wot the set up will be yet

            thankyou again dave

              Dave

I used a set of 1in rachet straps from a pound shop for pulling and holding the skin in place when building my 5ft variant of the same model.

                                HI Dave ,

hows the narrow boat coming on..?.. to get you srated on swordsman start by tracing all the bulkheads and all the parts to cut out , if you follow build to the plan you should have no problems,

make sure you keep evry thing straight and in line , use a board with a datum line down the middle,

put centre line on every bulkhead and part that has to line up build model uside down on board make sure the keel is straight , make tempory block jig and use set square to check every thing

both ways i use the plastic one the kids use at school, from pound shops ,

on my latest swordsman i have used 1/16 ply skins from stern to balsa bow less jionts and will take a better paint finish …….hope get you on the way . will post a couple of buid pictures and a

scetch of my build jigs …….Larry…….

Larry…..Nice to see you making good use of datum centre lines and squaring up where necessary……..Essential for marking out and build accuracy
