Before  I forget….the Lyme Park regatta has been cancelled this year due to a miss-understandind at headquarters.

The chap who posted the original request for a simple childproof yacht has not acknowlegded my idea yet…and I find that disappointing…perhaps he will shortly

You`re a great back up man for my crazy ideas Paul!……I dream `em up……..and you mek `em WORK!………Can`t be bad.

It`s really nice to know that the idea has some relevance and no doubt …out there some woodwork teacher will be making notes!

Sorry but no joy with the build yet as the old ticker has laid me up again    all I have managed to do is print up the 1:1 plans. Could be a few weeks before I’m able to do anything in workshop.

What is your next project going to be???

I`ve been wondering that myself…Paul

Been looking at PS Denbigh…….the blockade runner made in Birkenhead and batted for the Confederates in the US civil war……..and also……PS Ryde….a paddle steamer beached on the I.O.W and about to be scrapped……but it looks too much like Jeanie Deans…sigh

Just got the plans for STRATOS a 10 rater……………….Hmmmmmmm?

Will have a look round on the Warrington and Ellesmere boat shows for ideas……there`s no rush at the moment.

Sailing Jeanie Deans tomorrow at our club water…..Duckies got a mini meeting organised to replace the cancelled Lyme Park fiasco!

I have the best nurse in the world making sure that I don’t do anything more strenuous than read a book.

What is the Stratos? I only know of the sailing dinghy and an American speed/fishing boat, but the 10 rater has intrigued me.

As a matter of fact….it didn`t rain all afternoon at Etherow!

I sailed Jeanie Deans all afternoon and got sunburmt!…….a couple of JD pix in the gallery

The Stratos yacht is in the plans book…it`s a 10 rater and designed bt Graham Bantock

10 Rater is a particular class of yacht…(big of course) and is designed to certain formulae`s where the calculations have to equal………..10!……………………kinky..eh?

We have got off the subject of free flooding hulls and seeing that I am laid up and that you are between builds now might be a good time for you to move forward with your "plank build" and produce a working example.

I hope you get back into shipshape condition as quickly as possible…………………At the moment I`m dreaming up a new type of smoke unit….THAT MAKES REAL SMOKE…….for Jeanie Deans………….but I`ll keep the plank idea in my head at the same time.

Are you going to build your own smoke machine? if so look at the smoke fluid that the discos use in their fog generators

What principle do these stage fog creators operate?

In simple terms you heat the liquid and get smoke, I built mine years ago and only used it once (not a fan of smoke in models) have a look at Maplins as they sell such equipment.

Mine was an easy build of a storage tank, gravity feed and 12v heating plate (2in dia)

Back to liquid ballast,my friend has large tug and uses wine box bladders and water pumps to adjust his waterline,works well ,but pump slow!
