Foamboard/Plasticard

Hi all,

I am cosidering costructing my superstructere on my tug of "foamboard (3mm) and covering it  with 1mm plasticard.Has anyone used this method and if so what is the best way of glueing the one to the other? Any hints/tips would be welcome.

I only use 1.5mm Styrene for my superstructures and for the hulls when possible,i have never used foamboard,see my gallery for Styrene models.

Hi Dave,

I thought of using it because it is easy to work with.Then i thought would it weather ok and then considered covering it to make it weather proof. I am giving thought to Len’s viewof using 1.5styrene. Your views would be most welcome.

I see what you mean about easy to work with Duncan,i was just wondering how you would cover it.

1.5 styrene sounds a good option,and looking at Len’s models it definitely works just fine.

I was thinking of covering it with the thinnest  styrenr possible. Any views on that : i would of course to get a suitable glue. I am giving serious thought to  using LENS method however.What material are you using?

Instead of using the Styrene Solvent that you buy from model shops,go to a Plumbers Merchants and ask for ABS Soil pipe Cleaner, Not the Solvent glue! it does the same job at half the price.

I am not to sure about using it on foamboard,is it like polystyrene?.

I would dump the f/board.
